The New York State Department of Health and DEC have set aside a date later this month to engage residents of Clifton Springs about the ongoing investigative and remedial efforts to address soil and groundwater contamination at the G.W. Lisk site.
A community availability session will be held on January 23rd from 6 until 8 pm at the Clifton Springs Library.
State experts will be on hand to share information about the investigation, and actions taken to date as well as answer questions one-on-one. Five years ago, G.W. Lisk voluntarily entered into the Brownfield Cleanup Program to perform investigation and remedial activities at the South Street property.
The review of a Remedial Investigation Report completed by the DEC and DOH in November determined the site posed a significant threat if not addressed due to the volatile organic compounds that exceeded state standards found in soil and groundwater at the site.
