Sodus Pair Arrested for Beating & Robbing Friend After Argument

A Sodus pair is facing multiple charges stemming from an argument over drugs.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have arrested 25-year-old James Barton and 29-year-old Aleixieandra Hinkle following an investigation into an event that occurred on December 12, 2023.

It is alleged that after getting into an altercation over drugs while at a friend’s house, Barton and Hinkle beat the victim with a large chain, choked him unconscious, and tied him up with Christmas lights. The pair then took his car keys, wallet, and money.

The victim was eventually able to escape out of a bathroom window and get help at a neighbor’s house.

Barton and Hinkle were arrested Thursday. Barton was charged with Robbery, Assault, Strangulation, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawful Imprisonment. Hinkle was charged with Assault, and Menacing. Both were taken to the Wayne County Jail to await arraignment.
