A Shortsville man was arrested on Thursday after traveling to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but it turned out to be an undercover New York State Police operation.
49-year-old Timothy Gardiner was taken into custody at Mertensia Park in Farmington without incident and is facing charges of attempted rape in the second degree, a Class E felony.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
