Sheriff Warns of Scam Targeting Ontario County Residents

SHARE NOW

Ontario County officials are warning residents about a phone scam where callers pose as sheriff’s deputies, claiming the target has missed a court date or jury duty. The scammers then demand payment through Apple Pay or PayPal.

Sheriff David Cirencione stresses that his office never requests payments over the phone and urges anyone receiving such calls to hang up immediately and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly at 585-394-4560 to verify your questions or concerns.

Sheriff Cirencione also asks residents to share this information with friends and family to help protect the Ontario County community from these fraudulent schemes.
