After listening to 10 people speak against extending the life of the Seneca Meadows Landfill, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors last night approved a resolution urging the Department of Environmental Conservation to fully investigate the potential adverse impacts that continued operation of the facility would have on Seneca County.
Juliet Carrol of Romulus was one of the people that spoke at last night’s meeting.
The landfill’s operating permit is set to expire in 2025. The landfill, which is the largest in the state, has applied to stay open through 2040. The final decision is ultimately up to the State DEC.
