Efforts to further preserve, protect, and promote Seneca Lake’s water quality received a big boost with the donation of $100,000 by the Tripp Foundation to the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.
At the Association’s annual meeting held earlier this month, The Foundation’s Hank Kimball made the donation in memory of his father Howard Kimball, who in 1990 as a Seneca Lake resident, organized a group of people to establish an association to protect Seneca Lake’s water quality. One year later, Seneca Lake Pure Waters was incorporated.
Howard Kimball was posthumously awarded the Friend of Seneca-Founders Award, which recognizes a person or organization whose efforts outside of Pure Waters have had a significant impact in protecting the lake.
In addition, Pure Waters presented the Mary Rose Volunteer of the Year Award to Larry Martin, of Penn Yan, for his dedication and selfless service to Seneca Lake. Frank Case, of Romulus, was awarded the Rich Adams Memorial President’s Award for his many years of service to Pure Waters and Seneca Lake. Both recipients were recognized for their long-term and continued dedication to the organization.
