A Seneca Falls woman suffered significant injuries after being involved in a two-car crash in the town of Romulus.
An investigation by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office determined 79-year-old Betsy Smith had been driving west on Vineyard Road when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at the intersection with County Road 129 and collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by 33-year-old Joshua Patchen, of Romulus. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to both cars. Smith was airlifted to Upstate Medical University for treatment.
Smith will be ticketed for failure to yield.
The Romulus Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance and Life Net of New York assisted the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
