Seneca Falls Readies for It’s A Wonderful Life Festival

SHARE NOW

Celebrate the magic of the holiday season and the enduring spirit of Frank Capra’s beloved film It’s a Wonderful Life in the town that inspired Bedford Falls. The annual It’s a Wonderful Life Festival will take place Friday through Sunday in Seneca Falls.

The festivities will kick off with a Ribbon Cutting and Opening Ceremony at 9:00 AM on Friday setting the stage for a weekend filled with nostalgia, community spirit, and holiday cheer. In the spirit of giving, the It’s A Wonderful Life Festival Committee will be announcing a donation of $8,000 to local charities, mirroring the amount lost by Uncle Billy in the movie. Beneficiaries include the Seneca County House of Concern, Community Action Program, Seneca Falls Backpack Program, Inc., and Trevor’s Gift.

This year, the Ruth Dakin Bailey It’s A Wonderful Life Grand Marshal will be awarded posthumously to Dallyn Jenkins of the Beverly Animal Shelter, in honor of her tireless efforts to protect and care for animals in our community. Her dedication and compassion were truly remarkable. The award will be presented by Cari and Jeff Loop, daughter and son-in-law of Virginia Patton Moss, who portrayed Ruth Dakin Bailey in the film, to board members of the Beverly Animal Shelter. Following the award presentation, Cari and Jeff Loop will officially cut the ribbon to kick off the festival’s festivities.

Friday evening brings the community together for It’s a Wonderful Bonfire, a family-friendly event featuring:

  • A visit from Santa Claus and his renowned reindeer – a magical experience for children of all ages with a chance to meet Santa, snap memorable photos, and soak in the holiday cheer.
  • Festive caroling provided by Calvary Chapel Worship Singers to set the holiday mood
  • Delicious treats from Harry’s Hots, offering hotdogs and steaming hot chocolate

The bonfire will light up the evening, creating the perfect atmosphere to reflect on the timeless message of hope, love, and kindness captured in the classic film. A special note of thanks goes out to our friends at Hanggi’s Christmas Tree Farm for helping make the event extra extraordinary!

Throughout the weekend, festival-goers can enjoy themed activities, live performances, and opportunities to explore the town’s rich history and its connection to the film. Come experience the charm of Seneca Falls and create wonderful holiday memories with family and friends.
