The Seneca Falls Police Department is rolling out a new public safety tool designed to improve communication with the community.
Police announced Tuesday the launch of the tip411 alert system, a mobile app that allows residents to receive public safety alerts and submit anonymous tips directly from their smartphones.
Community members can sign up to receive alerts by email or text message, choosing either neighborhood-specific or townwide notifications. Officials say the town is considering transitioning from its current CodeRED system to tip411 for emergency alerts.
The free app, developed by CitizenObserver, is available through the Google Play and Apple app stores, as well as on the department’s website.
Police say the platform allows users to report suspicious activity or share information anonymously, with built-in technology that removes identifying details before tips are received. Officers can also respond, creating a two-way anonymous conversation.
“Our mission is to protect the safety of all who live, work, and visit Seneca Falls,” Police Chief Timothy Snyder said in a statement. “The Seneca Falls PD app will allow our community to share information safely and anonymously, helping us work together to address concerns and keep our neighborhoods safe.”
Residents without smartphones can still submit anonymous tips by texting “TSFPD” along with their message to 847411. Tips can also be submitted through the department’s website.
Police emphasized the system is not a replacement for calling 911 in an emergency, noting that responses through the app may not be immediate.
Anyone with questions or needing help signing up can contact the Seneca Falls Police Department directly at 315-568-4850.
