A Seneca County museum is launching a new interactive exhibit focused on the history of the Erie Canal.

A tug boat exhibit, modeled after the “The Urger,” an educational vessel owned by the New York State Canal Corporation that formerly traversed the canal, will be installed at the Seneca Falls Museum of Waterways and Industry. The exhibit will allow visitors of all ages to get a first-hand look at piloting a craft along the canal.

Funding for the exhibit’s installation was funded by the Bonafiglia Family Foundation and Bruce and Lisa Bonafiglia.

“The Bonafiglia Family cares deeply about the town of Seneca Falls and its local heritage. We see the Museum’s interactive tugboat exhibit as a fun and engaging way to showcase our history while appealing to local guests and visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities,” stated Judy Wentzel, the Executive Director of the Bonafiglia Family Foundation.

The tug boat exhibit is set to launch in January 2025.
