A Seneca Falls man is listed in stable condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after being hit by a car on Marshall Road in Fayette on Wednesday morning.

According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, deputies responded around 6:18 a.m. to the intersection of Marshall and Knight roads after a report of a car versus pedestrian accident.

The vehicle involved, a 2018 Toyota RAV4 registered in New Jersey and driven by a Seneca Falls woman, had significant front-end damage. The pedestrian, 24-year-old Richard Thomas, was found sitting in a vehicle seeking medical aid from volunteer firefighters. Thomas had been walking westbound on Marshall Road in dark clothing on the unlit roadway when he was struck.

Thomas was transported by North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital and later flown by LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital. Sheriff deputies report that Thomas is now in stable condition. The RAV4 driver was not injured.

Marshall Road was temporarily closed while deputies, assisted by Fayette Fire, North Seneca Ambulance, and LifeNet, investigated the scene. The Toyota was later removed by a tow company.
