A Seneca Falls man who has been arrested several times over the last month on a variety of charges is facing a new charge while incarcerated.
Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson reports that on Monday, investigators arrested 24-year-old Mekhi Russ on a charge of criminal mischief. Russ, already in custody at the Seneca County Jail, allegedly damaged a phone while at the facility. He was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Court and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Romulus Court at a future date.
This latest arrest comes after a series of incidents over the past month involving Russ:
- New Year’s Eve Threats: On December 31, 2025, Russ allegedly posted threats on social media targeting residents attending Seneca Falls’ annual Ball Drop celebration. He was charged with third-degree intimidating a victim or witness and making a terroristic threat. Authorities said there was no credible danger to the public.
- Burglary at Fall Street Brewing Company: Russ was arrested on December 23 in connection with a burglary that occurred on December 13. Charges include third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny, and possession of burglar’s tools. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
- Intentional Vehicle Collision: On December 17, Russ allegedly intentionally struck another motor vehicle in a public roadway, resulting in damage to both vehicles. He was charged with second-degree attempted assault and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies.
Authorities say they continue to investigate all incidents associated with him.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
