Seneca Falls Man Accused Again of Making Terroristic Threats

SHARE NOW

A Seneca Falls man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following two recent incidents investigated by local police.

The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department says 24-year-old Mekhi Russ was arrested on Tuesday in connection with incidents that occurred that day and on January 21st. Russ has been charged with making a terrorist threat, aggravated harassment in the second degree, attempted assault in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and criminal contempt in the second degree.  Details of the alleged incidents that led to the arrest of Russ were not disclosed.

Police say Russ was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

Authorities say the latest arrest follows a series of incidents earlier this month and in December that also led to charges against Russ.

On January 5th, Russ was arrested at the Seneca County Jail on a charge of criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a telephone.

On December 31, police allege Russ posted threats on social media aimed at people attending Seneca Falls’ annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop celebration. He was charged with intimidating a victim or witness in the third degree and making a terroristic threat. Officials said there was no credible threat to the public.

Russ was also arrested on December 23 in connection with a burglary at Fall Street Brewing Company stemming from a December 13 incident. Charges in that case include burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, and possession of burglar’s tools. That investigation remains ongoing.

In another incident on December 17, authorities allege Russ intentionally struck another vehicle on a public roadway, causing damage to both vehicles. He was charged with attempted assault in the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree, both felonies.

Police say investigations into all incidents involving Russ are continuing.
