Seneca Falls Community Center Gym Renamed After Baker

SHARE NOW

The Bonafiglia Family Foundation teamed up with the Seneca Falls Parks & Recreation Department on Friday to rename the town’s community center gymnasium in honor of David Baker. This dedication commemorates the Auburn native’s commitment to serving the community of Seneca Falls where he now lives, its youth, and its families.

“The impact that Coach Baker has had on the lives of others has rippled through decades, said Daniele Bonafiglia Wirth,” Daniele Bonafiglia Wirth, Bonafiglia Family Foundation. “His caring and encouraging coaching style helped influence a formidable time in my life. As I’ve grown and had the privilege to see the consistency with which he has invested his time and energies into continuing to coach and mentor young people, it’s truly inspirational. He embodies what it means to be a difference-maker. And so, it is such a privilege to be able to honor him in this way.”

Through countless hours of volunteering and coaching, Dave has run a variety of camps, clinics, tournaments, and leagues all while ensuring the town’s recreation and athletic facilities are in excellent condition. Dave has set an example both on and off the court, his contributions have improved the lives of so many and in teaching kids to be good sports, he’s inspired them to be good people.

“The Seneca Falls Parks & Recreation Department would like to thank the Bonafiglia Family Foundation for their collaboration & financial support for the David Baker Gymnasium Dedication initiative. Coach Baker has been instrumental in the success of not only our basketball program but all the department’s programs & services. We are looking forward to honoring Dave with these new facility improvements.” – Missy Jones, Director of Recreation

“To be recognized for doing something you love to do is truly amazing and humbling,” said Baker. “None of this would have been possible without the families and children who have taken part in the various programs offered here in Seneca Falls through our town’s Recreation Department. It has been a wonderful experience!”
