Seneca County Supervisors Strongly Oppose Rochester Casino

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors last week voted to send a letter of protest to state and federal representatives over Governor Kathy Hochul and the Seneca Nation’s secret agreement that calls for a casino to be built in Rochester. Varick Supervisor Bob Hayssen says a Rochester casino would most likely force the del Lago Resort & Casino to close.

The del Lago Resort and Casino opened in Tyre 6-years ago, it’s now owned by Churchill Downs.

The Seneca Indians compact with the state expires in December. The New York State Senate passed the bill approving the compact, the State Assembly has not.

All the local state senators voted for the bill, saying they did not realize it allowed the nation to build a Rochester casino. they are now calling for another vote.
