The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is touting another successful year for its Incarcerated Individuals Work Program Turkey program.
Through the program individuals incarcerated at the Seneca County Jail help raise turkeys from chicks all the way through into adult birds. Once butchered and processed, the turkeys are donated to places within the community to be given to those who may need them for Thanksgiving Dinner.
This year, 31 birds were processed and donated to the following:
- 8 Turkeys donated to the community the store/pantry – Seneca County House of Concern
- 5 Turkeys to be distributed to kids/families in need – South Seneca Central School
- 5 Turkeys to be distributed to kids/families in need – Romulus Central School
- 5 Turkeys to be distributed to kids/families in need – Mynderse Academy
- 5 Turkeys to be donated to families in need – Seneca Community Church
- 3 Turkeys kept to serve SCSO Members and the Incarcerated Individuals – Seneca County Jail
