Seneca County Seeking Volunteer Board Members for New LDC

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors, through the Economic Development, Tourism & Housing Committee, is searching for dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to serve as volunteer board members for the establishment of a new Local Development Corporation (LDC) for economic development in Seneca County. Michael Enslow, Chairman of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors, said this initiative marks a significant step forward in the county’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth and prosperity for its residents.

The LDC will be tasked with creating and implementing strategies for Seneca County that promote business expansion, job creation, and community development. As the county embarks on this endeavor, they are seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and expertise to serve on the board of directors and contribute to its success.

Responsibilities of LDC Board Members will be to:

Provide governance, oversight, and strategic direction to the LDC in alignment with the county’s economic development goals.
Advance productive (re)use of strategic properties that enhance tax generation, quality of life, and/or economic opportunities for residents.
Collaborate with local and regional partners to enhance business creation, retention, expansion, and attraction efforts.
Serve as lead agency in implementing the Seneca County Economic Development Strategy.
Serve as the “one-stop” in Seneca County for accessing economic development services provided by organizations throughout Seneca County.
Collaborate with local stakeholders, businesses, and community organizations to identify opportunities, share ideas/resources, and address challenges.
Ideal candidates for board membership possess a passion for economic development, a commitment to public service, and a willingness to dedicate their time and expertise to the betterment of Seneca County. While previous experience in economic development or related fields is beneficial, individuals from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
