A Seneca County inmate is facing assault charges after allegedly attacking a corrections officer at the county jail.
Authorities say Jason Bounds, an inmate at the Seneca County Jail, assaulted a corrections officer on Thursday around 4 p.m., causing injuries to the officer’s face, neck, and eye. The officer was treated at Geneva Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Bounds was arrested on Friday and was set to appear in Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson said, “We have a zero-tolerance policy for assaults on our staff and will always hold those accountable who engage in this type of behavior.”
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
