A search of the Seneca County Jail last week turned up no illegal contraband in the jail or the possession of any of the inmates.
Last Thursday’s extensive search was an effort by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office to promote safety and security. Correction Officers conducted the search with support from both Seneca County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Units and an additional K-9 Unit from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff TIm Thompson stated, “I credit our Correction Officers for their hard work and determination in keeping illegal contraband out of the Correctional Facility. We will be conducting these searches regularly in the future to keep our Correction Officers, Civilian Staff, and Incarcerated Individuals safe while they are here. There will be zero tolerance for illegal contraband.”
