With licensed cannabis dispensaries popping up in the region, the Seneca County Substance Abuse Coalition wants to make sure local dispensaries are following the law.
Legal stores must post the licensed dispensary seal and follow specific guidelines to prevent selling to those under 21. This includes not selling edibles with packaging targeted at kids.
The coalition states it’s not against local businesses but wants to ensure laws are followed by retailers to keep youth safe from exposure to marijuana before their brains are fully developed and adult users safe from unsafe products that could contain fentanyl or other chemicals.
Anyone can report concerns with a dispensary on the state’s website. Anyone wishing for more information on the coalition can call the United Way of Seneca County office at 315-539-1135 or contact [email protected].
Local New York licensed cannabis retail establishments include Just Breathe Finger Lakes in Seneca Falls, High Points Dispensary, and Twisted Cannabis FLX in Geneva.
