SHARE NOW

A Romulus Girl Scout is one of five members of the NYPenn Pathways Council to have earned the President’s Volunteer Service award for service to their communities.

In 2023, Lauren Werner and the four other members volunteered 534 hours collectively. Werner achieved a Teen Level Bronze for the 53 hours she volunteered. The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes outstanding volunteers within certifying organizations who have earned distinction through community service in 12 months or throughout a lifetime.

“We are very proud of our GSNYPENN Council members who earned President’s Volunteer Service Awards this cycle. They truly embody the Girl Scout mission of making the world a better place,” says GSNYPENN CEO Julie Dale.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes outstanding volunteers within certifying organizations who have earned distinction through community service in a 12-month period or throughout a lifetime. This presidential honor was founded in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. The award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.

GSNYPENN serves Girl Scouts in grades K-12 across 26 counties: Allegany, Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Otsego, St. Lawrence, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates in New York and Bradford and Tioga in Pennsylvania.
