Rochester Shooting Suspect Arrested in Canandaigua

SHARE NOW

Police say the suspect in a shooting earlier this month at Goodman Plaza in Rochester has been arrested in Canandaigua.

Officers responded to the plaza on North Goodman Street on October 6 after reports that a man had been shot while entering a store. The victim, a man in his 30s, later arrived at Rochester General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the shooting followed an altercation in the parking lot. Detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Christopher Thacker, who allegedly shot the victim before fleeing the scene.

On Thursday, detectives learned Thacker was in Canandaigua and worked with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office to take him into custody.

Thacker is charged with second-degree assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
