Report: Inmate from Wayne County Found Dead in Five Points Cell

A Wayne County man was found dead last month in his cell at the Five Points prison in Seneca County.

The Finger Lakes Times reports Adam Lafferty was serving time for burglary. Lafferty’s brother, Justin Baird, said he was told by State Police that the death was, “100% a homicide.”

Family members say he suffered head and neck injuries.  In a letter last October, Lafferty claimed he had been beaten, abused and denied medical attention continually, had his court papers stolen and possessions removed, and saw his rights otherwise violated by corrections officers and his cellmate.

State Police and the Seneca County District Attorney’s office will not comment on their investigation.
