The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is reminding residents that offices across the Finger Lakes region are closed starting today for a major technology upgrade. The shutdown continues through the Presidents Day holiday and Tuesday, with offices expected to reopen Wednesday, pending state approval.
During this period, no DMV services will be available in person, online, or by phone.
The DMV is migrating approximately 30 million records to a modernized system in partnership with FAST Enterprises. County clerks say the upgrade will make DMV services more secure, stable, and efficient.
Officials are urging residents to plan ahead and monitor local DMV websites for updates on reopening and service availability.
