The Red Jacket School District has a new nickname.
The Board of Education yesterday voted to approve the district’s new mascot, the Red Jacket Cardinals, as part of the New York State-mandated rebrand. The name “Cardinals” was recommended by the Rebranding Committee, based on data submitted by students, staff, alumni, and community members.
The next step in the rebranding process will focus on developing the logo. For the time being, the district will continue to use the “RJ” logo. They hope to have a new logo by the end of the next school year.
Over the past two years, the Waterloo school district has switched from Indians to Tigers, Canandaigua from Braves to Gray Wolves, and Romulus from Warriors to Royals.
