A stretch of State Route 21 in Ontario County now bears the name of a fallen Air Force Sergeant.
The section from Route 96 to Latting Road in Manchester has been officially renamed the “Highway Dedicated to TSgt Kory Wade.” One of the dedication signs was placed in front of the residence in Manchester, where Wade grew up. Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan sponsored the bill honoring Wade, a Manchester native and a 2008 graduate of Red Jacket High School.
“TSgt Wade was a proud native son, a decorated airman, and a true American hero whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” wrote Gallahan in a post on his Facebook page. “This dedication ensures that everyone who travels this road will remember his courage, character, and deep love for his country. May his legacy continue to inspire us all.”
