A sex offender who resides in Seneca Falls has been arrested on perjury charges after he allegedly lied on a state document where he lives.
The Seneca Falls Police Department began its investigation into 62-year-old Robert Giggetts after he allegedly failed to report a change of address as required under state law. Investigators determined the address Giggetts reported was not his actual address. The Level 3 Offender is also accused of submitting official documentation to the state falsely claiming the residence, resulting in perjury and offering a false instrument for filing charges.
Giggetts was convicted in 1997 of raping an 18 year old woman and was sentenced to three-to-six years in prison.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
