Police: Seneca Falls Man Refused to Leave Burning Home

SHARE NOW

Police arrested a Seneca Falls man Monday afternoon after he refused to leave his home that was on fire.

James Jacobs is accused of refusing to leave the Ovid Street home and preventing the Seneca Falls Fire Department from putting the fire out. The 63-year-old was eventually taken into custody and charged with obstructing fire operations. The fire was quickly put out once Jacobs was removed from the home.

No injuries were reported and there is no word yet on what caused the fire.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
