The Palmyra Police Department arrested a juvenile this week following a lengthy investigation into alleged child abuse.
Police say the investigation started last September after concerns were raised about repeated abuse within a family. The juvenile is accused of sexually abusing a younger sibling over several years, from 2018 through March 2023.
The juvenile faces multiple felony charges, including Incest in the First Degree, Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.
After being processed, the juvenile was released to a legal guardian and is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Probation court. Authorities say an Order of Protection will be sought for the victim.
In keeping with state law, the names and photos of the juvenile and victim are not being released.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
