A response by Geneva Police to a domestic incident at a residence on Burrall Avenue resulted in the arrest of a Geneva man on felony weapons charges.
While on scene early Friday morning officers learned that 25-year-old Juan Galvez-Perez was allegedly in possession of an illegal 9mm handgun. It was determined the gun had an 18-round high-capacity magazine which contained 11 rounds of ammunition.
While police were processing Galvez-Perez, they found him to allegedly have a white powdery substance on him that tested positive for cocaine.
Galvez-Perez was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony counts of criminal possession of a firearm and a weapon.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
