Police: Geneva Father Arrested After 13-Year-Old Ingests His Cocaine

SHARE NOW

A Geneva man is facing charges after police say his 13-year-old child ingested cocaine at their home on Cherry Street on Monday afternoon.

Geneva Police say officers were called around 3 p.m. to assist Finger Lakes Ambulance. Paramedics checked the child, who was later released to family members.

Investigators determined that the child’s father, Eric Guthrie, a convicted felon, had left cocaine in the kitchen where it was accessible to the two minor children living in the home. The 50-year-old Guthrie was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was taken to the police department for processing and then to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment. Guthrie was released without bail and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.

The Ontario County Child Protection Agency also assisted in the investigation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
