Phelps Man Rescued From Flint Creek

SHARE NOW

A Phelps man is listed in stable condition after nearly drowning in Flint Creek Sunday night.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Elkannah Young was riding his four-wheeler along the Ontario Pathways when he attempted to cross the waterway. As he did, the swift water pushed his four-wheeler, which caused him to lose control and overturn, sending the 64-year-old into the water.

When Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene, Young had been taken out of the water and given first aid. Finger Lakes Ambulance responded to render aid to Young and later transported him to Midlakes High School, where a landing zone was set up for air transport. Young was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The Phelps Fire Department also assisted with the transport.
