Penfield Pair Accused of Identity Theft

SHARE NOW

Two people are facing charges after allegedly stealing people’s identities and money.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Kelli Race and Johnathan Alvarez following a month-long investigation. The pair are accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise at the Canadaigua Walmart in May.

Around the same time, the Penfield pair used a stolen identity to rent a cottage on Canandaigua Lake. While at the cottage, they entered the “owners only” section of the cottage and stole checks that were cashed locally using the identity of another victim.

A search of Race and Alverez’s residence turned up over 50 driver’s licenses, passports, and other IDs believed to be from additional victims.

The pair were arraigned and are currently being held at the Ontario County Kail without bail. They are scheduled to appear in Hopewell and Gorham Town Courts at a later date.
