Paws and Ladders: Kitten Rescue Brings Smiles to Canandaigua

SHARE NOW

Firefighters in Canandaigua traded a typical emergency call for a lighter rescue Friday morning, helping a stranded kitten safely back to the ground.

The City of Canandaigua Fire Department says crews assigned to Tower 281, known as “A” Shift, were dispatched to Jefferson Avenue for what they described as a “high-rise” emergency of the feline variety.

A curious kitten had climbed high into a tall tree and was unable to make its way down. Using ladder equipment and a coordinated approach, firefighters were able to safely reach the animal and bring it back to the ground without injury. The kitten was then reunited with relieved onlookers.

Department officials say they’re always happy to help, whether the call involves residents on two legs or four.
