Parole has been denied for Gregory Flint, who was convicted of the 1986 rape and murder of 8-year-old Stacey Ackerman in Farmington.
Flint was sentenced in 1987 to 37 years to life after being found guilty of multiple charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree rape, sodomy, and manslaughter. At the time of the crime, Flint had been staying with Ackerman’s family while facing a DWI charge. He initially denied being at the home but later confessed.
A petition circulated by Ackerman’s family, and strongly backed by the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, had urged the state parole board to block Flint’s release.
The board’s decision means Flint will remain in prison. His next chance for parole will be in two years.
