Palmyra Police Investigating Suspicious Incident Involving Juveniles

SHARE NOW

The Palmyra Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident involving juveniles that occurred in the early morning hours of June 26.

Officers were dispatched to a home on West Foster Street after the homeowner reported two individuals on his property around 3:30 a.m. Surveillance footage showed the juveniles with their faces partially covered by T-shirts. They fled the scene immediately after a motion-activated security light turned on.

Later that same day, a School Resource Officer reported seeing a group of 10 to 15 juveniles on school property around 1 a.m. While it’s unclear if the two incidents are directly connected, police noted the proximity of the school to the residence suggests a possible link.

Palmyra Police are continuing to investigate and are reminding families about the village’s curfew law, which prohibits minors from being in public places during overnight hours without an approved exemption.

Palmyra Curfew Hours for Minors:

  • Sunday through Thursday: 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Police say parents or guardians who knowingly allow minors to break curfew could face consequences, including appearance tickets. In some cases, more serious charges like Endangering the Welfare of a Child—a Class A misdemeanor—could apply. That charge carries potential penalties of up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately. Early reporting helps ensure a quicker police response and proper documentation of incidents.
