Assemblyman Phil Palmesano was reappointed to the Assembly Republican Conference leadership team as Assistant Minority Leader. In addition to this, the Corning Republican will also continue to serve as ranking member for the Assembly Energy Committee as well as serve on the Corporations, Authorities & Commissions, Correction, Insurance, Rules, and Ways & Means committees. Palmesano has served as the Assistant Minority Leader since 2020 and the ranking member of the Assembly Energy Committee since 2013.

Assemblyman Palmesano represents the 132nd District, which includes Schuyler County, Yates County and parts of Chemung County, Seneca County, and Steuben County.

“Since being elected to the Assembly in 2010, Phil Palmesano has delivered for the people of his district and continues to be one of the most valuable members of our Conference. His experience, enthusiasm, and tireless dedication to his constituents have earned him the respect of every member of the Legislature. I’m happy to have him on our Conference Leadership Team and know he’ll continue to fight for common-sense policies in his various committee positions,” said Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski).

“I want to thank Leader Barclay for the continued trust and confidence he has placed in me to continue serving our Conference as a part of his leadership team, as well as the opportunity to continue as the ranking member of the Energy Committee,” said Palmesano. “New Yorkers want more balance in our state government that has been dominated by one-party Democrat control since 2019. We must work together to prioritize and address the affordability, public safety and quality-of-life crisis that is plaguing our families and communities throughout the state in the upcoming 2025 Legislative Session,” added Palmesano.

“As the ranking member on the Energy Committee, I will continue to fight and advocate for a common-sense and feasible energy plan that protects consumer energy choices and will help make energy more affordable and reliable for New York families and businesses, “said Palmesano. “I will also continue to sound the alarm to speak out against and oppose radical and costly energy/climate policies like the Climate Change Superfund Act, The HEAT Act, the electric school bus mandate, and other Green New Deal energy mandates that are being forced upon New York families and businesses. These policies are clearly intended to dismantle the affordable and reliable natural gas supply and delivery system while taking away consumer choice on how you heat your home, cook your food, power your buildings or the vehicles you drive. These policies are anti-business, and anti-consumer and are the driving factor in New York’s nation-leading outmigration. We can, and must, do better for our New York families, seniors, farmers, small businesses, and manufacturers,” concluded Palmesano.
