Two Farmington men are facing animal abandonment and cruelty charges after allegedly abandoning two dogs in the town.
On April 5, just before 7:00a, Members of the Ontario County Humane Society and sheriff’s deputies found the dogs tied with short leashes to a tree on Wood Drive. They were standing in about six inches of water and an inch of snow in 30-degree weather.
Both Anui, a male Northern Inuit, and Flush, a female Alaskan Husky, were taken to the Humane Society’s shelter and are being treated for malnutrition before being put up for adoption.
Zachary Guidarelli is accused of tethering the dogs to the tree after being unable to give them away to people at several businesses.
After learning that both dogs were microchipped, the ownership of them was tracked to Christopher Clawson as well.
Both men were charged with two counts each of Animal Abandonment and Animal Cruelty.
