A local group recently met to identify the needs of the businesses and Ovid community impacted by the January 21st Main Street fire.
Ovid Mayor Aaron Roisen and Town Supervisor Joe Borst convened the group. Ovid Fire Chief Tim Westlake, Seneca County Economic Development, Tourism & Housing Committee Chair Jeff Trout, and Seneca County IDA Board Chair Bruce Murray were in attendance. They identified initiating the clean-up of the fire site, assisting business owners in understanding the costs and realistic timeline for reconstruction, as well as identifying public sources for financial assistance as short-term needs.
A high priority of the Ovid Development Committee will be to engage with local businesses poised to help with cleanup.
The Committee said its goal is to communicate its objectives to the community and report on progress toward achieving them.
