A warrant investigation that lasted just over one year resulted in the arrest of a Portland, Oregon woman for an incident that happened in Wayne County.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29-year-old Megan Thomas on an Arrest Warrant that included the following charges: Menacing a Police Officer, Assault in the Second Degree, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.
The charges resulted from an incident that occurred on October 2nd, 2022, in which is it alleged that Thomas had fled the scene of a traffic crash and was later located operating the damaged vehicle. It is also reported that Thomas was not cooperative with the Police after being stopped and that she resisted the Officers, allegedly pulling a knife on one of the Officers at the scene. Thomas was quickly disarmed and arrested.
Thomas failed to show up for any of her court appearances and the Arrest Warrant was signed on January 9th, 2023, by Wayne County Superior Court. Deputies eventually learned and confirmed that Thomas had fled to the State of Oregon, staying around the downtown Portland area.
On February 22nd, Thomas was located in Portland, OR and taken into custody. On March 1st, deputies flew to Oregon, extraditing Thomas to New York State.
Thomas was then processed at the Wayne County Jail and will appear in County Court at a later date and time.
