After 27 years on the job, Lieutenant Joseph Murphy retired from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.

Lt. Murphy began his journey with the sheriff’s office in 1997 as a road patrol deputy. His commitment and expertise led him through a distinguished career, from investigator in 2014 to his current role as Lieutenant since 2020. Along the way, he served on bike patrol, as a Field Training Officer, a K9 officer, and played a crucial role as a member and leader of the Underwater Search & Recovery Team.
