Following the recent boil water advisory in Canandaigua and surrounding areas, the Ontario County 911 Center is urging residents to download a reverse 911 emergency notification system to their mobile phones. Hyper-Reach is a messaging system that allows dispatchers to quickly deliver critical information directly to the public. This allows residents to remain informed and safe during urgent local situations such as the recent boil water advisory.
Subscribers of Hyper-Reach receive timely alerts as they come in, such as road closures, severe weather updates, public safety notices, boil water advisories and other important community information. Residents can choose to receive these alerts either by phone call, text message or email. Landline phones automatically receive calls, only mobile phones need to be registered.
“Hyper-Reach is one of the most effective ways we can communicate urgent information to our residents,” Sheriff David Cirencione said. “In an emergency, every second counts. Signing up ensures you’ll get the right information at the right time.”
To sign up for the notification system, residents can either sign up through the resources tab on the OntarioSheriffNY App or visit this website.
