The Ontario County District Attorney’s Office is partnering with the family of Staci Ackerman to oppose the parole of her convicted killer.
Gregory Flint was sentenced to 37 years to life for the 1986 rape and murder of 12-year-old Ackerman in Farmington, where he had been staying with her family while facing a DWI charge. He initially denied being at the home but later confessed. Flint was convicted in 1987 on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree rape, sodomy, and manslaughter. The 63-year-old’s first parole hearing is scheduled for next month, with the earliest possible release in November.
District Attorney Jim Ritts said the petition aims to keep Flint behind bars, citing concerns that, if released, he would not be under lifetime supervision. Ritts questioned the idea of rehabilitation, stating Flint doesn’t appear to understand how to change predatory behavior toward children.
