Ontario County DA Files 81-Count Indictment in Major Gun & Drug Investigation

SHARE NOW

A routine complaint about drug activity and loitering in downtown Geneva last summer led to a large-scale firearms and narcotics investigation, resulting in an 81-count indictment against Ronnie Boswell Jr., also known as “Spaz.”

Boswell faces a range of charges, including the criminal sale and possession of firearms, conspiracy, and multiple drug offenses. According to Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts, the alleged crimes took place between October 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025.

Authorities seized 14 firearms—five of which were assault weapons—along with 13 large-capacity magazines and approximately 2,600 fentanyl pills during the investigation.

The case began in August 2024 after Geneva residents reported concerns about suspected drug activity affecting the community’s quality of life. Geneva Police Chief Ronald Eveland said these tips led authorities to Boswell, expanding the probe into a collaborative effort involving the Ontario County DA’s Office, ATF, Geneva Police Department, New York State Police, and the sheriff’s departments of Ontario and Seneca counties.

Boswell was arrested on January 2 during a buy-bust operation, where he allegedly sold 200 fentanyl pills, a semi-automatic rifle, large-capacity magazines, and ammunition. Investigators recovered the buy money upon his arrest.

Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione stated that while Boswell was operating out of Rochester, he was attempting to sell firearms to buyers in Ontario County.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
