If you are a New York State Electric and Gas customer you can learn more this week about the utility’s plans to upgrade your meters to smart meters.
The company will host an informational open house on Tuesday at Auburn City Hall to provide customers in Cayuga and Onondaga counties with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits. A similar open house will be held Wednesday at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva for Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, and Yates County customers.
Both open houses will run from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m.
All residential and most business customers in NYSEG service areas will receive the new electric smart meter and/or natural gas module. Informational displays and NYSEG representatives will be available to share more details about the installation process, answer questions, and demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with benefits such as bills based on actual energy use, faster outage detection, and a better understanding of their energy usage.
Registration for the open houses is not required and all are welcome.
