SHARE NOW

A Newark woman led police on a pursuit through four Wayne County towns Monday night after she failed to pull over for a traffic stop.

Sheriff’s Deputies said they tried to stop Lisa Sweeting in Palmyra but she failed to stop and instead drove through Palmyra, Marion, Walworth, and Ontario before the pursuit came to an end after spike strips were successfully deployed on State Route 350. The 33-year-old then allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was being taken into custody.

Sweeting was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, operating while registration suspended, operating without insurance, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, failing to stop at a stop sign, improper left turn, and holding more than one New York State license.

Sweeting was brought to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and released on an appearance ticket for Ontario Town Court.
