Newark Promotes Salerno to Sergeant

SHARE NOW

The Newark Police Department has promoted Officer Brandon Salerno to the rank of Police Sergeant.

Salerno began his law enforcement career with the Clyde Police Department in 2006. In 2007 he went to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy and, at the end of 2009, he transferred to the Newark Police Department. Sgt. Salerno has served the NPD as a crime scene evidence technician and firearms instructor for several years. He is a certified police instructor and armorer. He is married and a father of two.

Sergeant Salerno brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this key leadership position. During his career he has received various recognitions, the most recent being a Life Saving Award.

Mayor Taylor commented, “It’s great that we are able to promote a veteran on our team like Officer Salerno to Sergeant. His experience in Newark will help us immensely for years to come as our department grows and we add both new recruits and lateral transfers.”

Police Commissioner Stu Blodgett noted, “Brandon’s promotion is well deserved and will be a tremendous benefit to the Newark Police Department going forward. NPD has 3 new recruits at the academy and upon completion of their education, Brandon’s leadership will be a big part of their field training success. And as always, it is great that we can promote from within. I wish Brandon all the best going forward with his career here in Newark.”
