A Newark man has been indicted on murder and related charges following the discovery of a body along a rural trail in Wayne County.
Wayne County District Attorney Christine Callanan says Jared Nesmith was indicted by a grand jury on second-degree murder, concealment of a human corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from the death of 49-year-old Conan Guard, whose remains were found in September along the Zurich Bog Trail in Sodus.
Nesmith was arraigned this week and held in Wayne County Jail without bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
