A Newark man has been arrested after police say he sent 74 text messages to another person threatening harm toward that individual and their family.
James Pettine is also accused of making racial references, including mentioning the victim was his “slave” in those text messages as well as in a voicemail message he left. He was charged with aggravated harassment and stalking, both as felony hate crimes.
Pettine was released from the custody of the police following his arraignment.
