Police say a house at 419 Madison Street in the village of Newark was struck by gunfire and a handgun was recovered from a backyard on West Maple Avenue on Saturday.
At around 4:15 p.m., Newark Police received a call of a man who had been jumped but they soon learned that vehicles were involved and people were fleeing the area upon their arrival. Police called it a “very confusing and chaotic incident.”
One car was detained with several people inside and spent casings were found in the road in front of the house that was struck by gunfire. Police have made no arrests and their investigation is ongoing.
There was no word on the condition of the man who was allegedly jumped.
